Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a British-Nigerian mixed race child, was born to a family in South London. Her father and mother are both English. She was born on the South London Council Estate and was a student at The Brit School aged 14. In London, she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting degree was earned. During her time at the academy, she appeared in a number of performances on stage, such as The King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared on Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakthrough came in 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was in the role of Colin Farrell (who played the character of Cassandra) as well as Ewan McGrath. The following year, she played Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and in six episodes of Flipside. In 2008, she got Bambi's part on the ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She appeared in both series 2 and 3. Madekwe starred as the lead character for How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedic comedy released in 2008. She has performed in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path which was written directed by David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 when she appeared on the dramatic The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes before being removed from The CW. Ashley Davenport appeared in ABC drama Revenge as of February 2011. Madekwe starred as a regular character on the drama series on ABC Revenge during two seasons. In May 2013 that she'd be leaving the series following one guest appearance on the very first episode of season three. She played Tituba in the TV program Salem from 2014 to 2016. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. Apart from Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared with each other on Salem and Iddo Goldberg had an appearance with her on that show.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into a large, extended family. She joined her parents, Roy and Patty along with her older brothers, Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's four brothers, all very active, took part in hockey in the winter and baseball during the summer, so they grew up mostly in parks and arenas. Ashley did not walk; instead, she was a dancer. When she was two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was hooked on dance since that time. When she was in High School, Ashley danced competitively in the top divisions in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip hop. She was crowned the top individualist in all the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
